Oak Island artist Miriam Pinkerton's artwork reflects her ongoing interest in exploring new materials and techniques, and includes her mixed media collage pieces.
She begins each mixed media painting with layers of glazing, texturing each layer as she works. "I enjoy texture and have a passion for underlying and overlapping. As the work progresses, it tells me which was to go." Sometimes a piece may end up with as many as 12 layers of glazes and texturing.
